Forklaringerne er måske egentlig ganske enkle, hvis man lige tager et kig på primære og sekundære smerter, på fasciekæder, der ligger som pølser på en snor og på musklernes samhørighed, når de skal hjælpe os med at trave gennem livet.
Kigger vi på forskningen på fx Glucosamin, er det nøjagtig som med anden forskning. Man er nødt til at vælge at fokusere meget skarpt på fx et led eller på en sygdom, for at undersøgelsen bliver gennemskuelig for forskerne selv. Men også for at andre måske kan gøre kunsten efter, så forsøg på forsøg bekræfter, at noget virker. Det er helt fundamentalt ved forskning og værdifuldt for os alle, så vi får et seriøst grundlag at træffe vores valg på.
Men midt i seriøsiteten mister vi måske også kontakten til patienterne, der indgik i forsøget. Hvordan har de det to, tre og ti år efter forsøget sluttede? Hvad gik godt? Hvad gik galt? Og kom der nogle andre positive resultater ud af en given behandling, som vi aldrig fik spurgt patienten om, fordi vi er løbet videre til næste forskningsprojekt?
Noget tyder på, at det faktisk er det, der er sket med bl.a. Glucosaminsulfat. For mens forskerne og reumatologerne i udlandet er helt sikre på, at Glucosaminsulfat (og vel at mærke som sulfat) skal anvendes til slidgigt, kan patienter og brugere af ekstraktionen fra skaldyrenes skaller fortælle, at de, udover at have fået hjælp til knæ eller hofter, også er sluppet for en stribe andre symptomer fra muskler, led og sener.
Det, du mærker, kan meget vel være helt korrekt og ikke et udtryk for en god portion placeboeffekt, hvor din hjerne snyder dig og din krop.
Her finder du måske en forklaring på den gode effekt i hele kroppen
Glucosamin virker på andet end det gigtramte led
For det første er der rigtig mange mennesker, som lang tid, før de når de 40 år, kan have begyndende slidgigt, uden at det endnu kan ses på røntgenbilleder. Det betyder, at sætter du i gang med Glucosaminsulfat udelukkende på en mistanke om slidgigt, kan du måske mærke en klar forbedring, og bonuseffekten er ikke kun en smertefrihed, men også en klar mulighed for at forebygge udviklingen af slidgigt. En sygdom, vi alle bliver ramt af, hvis vi ellers bliver gamle nok.
En anden forklaring kan være, at når man aflaster og behandler det gigtramte led, hjælper det også i resten af kroppen via fascierne, som du sikkert har set, hvis du nogensinde har fjernet hinden rundt om en mørbradbøf.Denne hinde, i fagsprog kaldet fascie, ligger rundt om alle vores muskler, og de danner et kommunikationssystem, fra fascie til fascie, faktisk forbundet som pølser på en snor.
Har du fx slidgigt i lændehvirvlerne, kan du få smerter hvor som helst på pølsesnoren eksempelvis i hælene. Har du fx smerter mellem skulderbladene, kan det sagtens forplante sig til dine skinneben.
Den tredje forklaring er, at når du fjerner irritation, hævelser, rødmen og smerte fra et bruskholdigt led ved at give Glucosamin sulfat, vil du automatisk få sat stopper for de sekundære skader og smerter, du måske har gået med i uger, måneder og år. For langvarige smerter fra det gigtramte sted, kan skabe uhensigtsmæssige bevægelsesmønstre, der rammer andre muskler og sener. De såkaldte sekundære smerter eller skader er opstået. Derfor må og skal man finde de bagomliggende årsager til problemerne.
Slidgigt udvikles sædvanligvis kun i færdigudvoksede led, hvilket vil sige voksne led; børn og unge har derfor sjældent slidgigt.

På fagsprog kaldes slidgigt for osteoartrose eller blot artrose. I rygsøjlen kaldes slidgigt også for diskusdegeneration og spondylose.
Symptomerne kan være mangfoldige og ødelæggende for livskvaliteten
Smerter kan alt for let hindre en god livskvalitet, og de mange smertestillende midler, som typisk bliver brugt – fordi de virker – har ofte en stribe af bivirkninger med sig i kølvandet. Det er vigtigt at finde årsagerne for at konstatere, om et eller flere af følgende symptomer kan skyldes slidgigt:
Slidgigt i nakken kan give nakkesmerter, hovedpine, ansigtssmerter og armsmerter. Armsmerterne kan være diffuse (fx musearm) eller mere lokaliserede (fx frossen skulder, tennisalbue, golfalbue og seneskedehindebetændelse).
Slidgigt i ryggen kan medføre rygsmerter, hold i ryggen, hekseskud og smerter i benene (også kaldet iskias).
Slidgigt i hoften giver ofte smerter i sædet og benet.
Slidgigt i andre led som knæ, fingerled og storetåens grundled medfører smerter omkring disse led.
Andre symptomer på slidgigt er nedsat bevægelighed af det syge led, periodevis hævelse af leddet og ledlyde. ”Skurren”og”knasen”, som var der sand i leddet, kan både høres og føles af patienten.
Ved svær slidgigt med uensartet nedslidning af leddet kan der desuden optræde fejlstilling af leddet, fx ses kalveknæ eller hjulben ved slidgigt i knæleddene, og skæve og knudrede fingre ved slidgigt i fingerleddene.

Kan der ikke konstateres slidgigt, så prøv alligevel med Glucosaminsulfat, for det kan være en begyndende slidgigt i et eller flere led, der skaber smerterne, men som endnu ikke kan ses på røntgen. Mærker du ikke en effekt indenfor et par måneder, er der ingen grund til at fortsætte.
Prøv også Glucosaminsulfat ved velkendt og diagnosticeret slidgigt i et led, men hvor smerterne er at finde helt andre steder i kroppen. Det kan være fascierne, der er på spil. Eller måske har du oparbejdet nogle skæve gangarter for at undgå smerterne fra din slidgigt.
Glucosamin til hele kroppen, fordi det også virker, hvor der ikke er slidgigt
Studier viser tydeligt, at det er Glucosaminsulfat, du skal vælge, for at sikre en effekt. I Danmark sælges Glucosamin Pharma Nord som ikke-receptpligtig lægemiddel, og du skal tage tre kapsler om dagen. De kan synkes, som de er, eller åbnes og hældes i lidt juice eller lidt yoghurt. Der er ingen tablethjælpestoffer tilsat.
Der kan være stor forskel på kvaliteten af Glucosaminprodukterne. Vælg derfor et produkt som fx Pharma Nords, som er underlagt Sundhedsstyrelsens krav til lægemidler. På det udenlandske internet – som meget vel kan være skrevet på dansk – kan du gå grueligt galt og få de forkerte og uvirksomme produkter.
Er du allergisk overfor skaldyr, kan du ikke bruge Glucosamin.
