Eye q indeholder en unik fiskeolie, der kaldes kirunalolie, og som kendetegnes ved en særlig kombination af EPA og DHA.
Lige netop denne sammensætning har vist sig særdeles vigtig for børn og voksne, der har brug for hjælp til koncentration og indlæring.

Kroppen har brug for fedtsyrer
Flerumættede fedtsyrer findes i alle celler og har mange vigtige funktioner bl.a. som byggesten i cellernes membraner. En god, varieret kost med meget fisk, mange nødder og grøntsager giver den bedste kombination af de vigtige flerumættede omega-3-fedtsyrer EPA og DHA samt omega-6-fedtsyren GLA. Et regelmæssigt indtag af Eye q bidrager med disse vigtige fedtsyrer til børn og voksne. EPA er den vigtigste fedtsyre Det er meget vigtigt, at indholdet af EPA i cellemembranerne er tilstrækkeligt højt i forhold til DHA. EPA regulerer omsætningen af fedtsyrer ved at forhindre udskillelsen af bl.a. DHA, og ved selv at kunne omdannes til DHA. Derfor er det en fordel, at mængden af EPA i cellerne er så høj som mulig.

Fiskeolie uden lugt og smag af fisk
Kirunalolie er fremstillet af små fisk (sardiner og ansjoser) fra den sydlige halvkugle, hvor vandet altid er varmt. Det betyder, at fiskene har en anden fedtsyresammensætning med et naturligt højere indhold af EPA end fisk fra kolde vande. Kirunalolie har derfor en unik sammensætning med et markant højere indhold af EPA i forhold til DHA. Kirunalolie kombineres med kæmpenatlysolie, der indeholder GLA og tilsættes antioxidant for at stabilisere olien. Kirunalolien gennemgår en avanceret og skånsom proces, som giver en meget ren olie og som bevarer fedtsyrerne bedst muligt. Samtidig renses olien for fiskelugt og smag.

Eye q fremstilles under farmaceutisk kontrol
Fremstillingsprocessen er unik og derfor patenteret. Kapslerne er små og synkevenlige, og den flydende er med en frisk smag af citrus og lime. Indhold pr. dagsdosis (2 kapsler el. 5 ml fl ydende) EPA (Eicosapentaensyre) 186,0 mg DHA (Docosahexaensyre) 58,0 mg GLA (Gamma linolensyre) 20,0 mg Dosering For at opnå det bedste resultat anbefales det, at starte med 2 kapsler eller 1 teskefuld (5 ml) 3 gange dagligt i 12 uger. Derefter kan dosis reduceres til 2 kapsler eller 1 teskefuld (5 ml) dagligt. Bør kun efter aftale med læge eller sundheds plejerske anvendes af gravide eller børn under 1 år.

Bemærk: Kosttilskud bør ikke træde i stedet for varieret kost.

Kliniske studier
Tilskud af specielle fedtsyrer kan være en tryg og effektiv hjælp til børn med læse- og skrivevanskeligheder og ADHD. Det er nogle af resultaterne fra det omfattende Durham studie fra Oxford University, som blev præsenteret på en pressekonference i London først i maj måned. Studiets første del er publiceret i det anerkendte tidsskrift Pediatrics i denne måned, og dokumenterer at tilskud af specielt sammensatte fedtsyrer til børn er lige så effektiv behandling som medicin mod disse problemer. Koncentrations-, læse- og skrivevanskeligheder samt adfærdsproblemer rammer cirka fem procent af alle børn i den skolepligtige alder. Indtil nu har denne gruppen kun haft tilgang til symptomlindrende behandling i form af, en del omstridt, konventionel behandling. Nu er det bekræftet, at et enkelt, men unikt fedtsyreprodukt, eye q kan have samme effekt.

Øgede læsefærdigheder
Studiet omfattede 120 børn i alderen 6-12 år, og varede i tre måneder. Halvdelen af børnene fik 2 kapsler tre gange dagligt af den unikke fiskeolie eye q, mens den anden gruppen fik placebokapsler. Blandt børnene som fik tilskud af eye q, registrerede forskerne en dramatisk øgning i læsefærdig-heder, adfærd, IQ og motoriske færdigheder. Børnenes læsefærdigheder øgedes i gennemsnit svarende til et års skolegang, hos enkelte svarende til fire års skolegang.

– Maden vi spiser påvirker hjerne og adfærd. Er man opmærksom på, hvad man spiser, kan man mærke store forandringer, siger Alexandra Richardson, Oxford University.

Richardson var ansvarlig for den del af undersøgelsen, som gik på læsefærdigheder.

ADHD symptomer reduceret
Hos de af børnene som havde symptomer på ADHD, så man ved brug af eye q, samme effekt som det man tidligere kun har set ved brug af lægemidlet Ritalin. – Studiet viser signifikant forbedring i 12 af 13 parametre på ADHD. Det betyder, at eye q er et reelt alternativt til lægemidlet Ritalin. Det er derfor på høje tid, at forældre, lærere og andre fagpersoner benytter denne mulighed for at give børnene et naturligt og ufarligt produkt før man eventuelt vurderer medicinsk behandling, siger dr. Madeleine Portwood, ansvarlig for den del af undersøgelsen som omfatter ADHD.

– Resultaterne er opnået med en unik blanding af omega-3 fedtsyrer i en sammensætning, man ikke finder i nogen andre produkter.
Man kan derfor ikke forvente samme resultater med andre fiskeolieprodukter, siger Portwood.

Barnsjukhus testar speciell typ av fiskolja i stället för amfetamin mot ADHD
Barn-neuropsykiatriska kliniken vid Drottning Silvias Barnsjukhus i Göteborg har påbörjat en studie där barn med ADHD – hyperaktivitet – får en speciell typ av fiskolja.

– Vi är nyfikna på om de fungerar och ser det närmast som vår skyldighet att undersöka om de har effekt. Det är många av våra patienter som prövat denna olja på egen hand och fått god effekt. Det säger psykiatriker och studieansvarige Sven Östlund vid barn-neuropsykiatriska kliniken, BNK.

Den vanligaste behandlingen av ADHD idag är amfetaminpreparaten Ritalina och Concerta. Men en minoritet av ADHD-barnen får amfetaminbehandling. Dessutom tvekar många föräldrar inför att ge sina barn amfetamin och ser gärna en naturligare behandlingsform.

En anledning till att studien kommit till stånd är att forskarna på BNK, som leds av den världsberömde ADHD-forskaren Christopher Gillberg, imponerats av en helt nyligen genomförd studie i Durham i England.

Den visar att närmare 40 procent av skolbarn med stora inlärningssvårigheter presterar mycket bättre när de får eye q, som innehåller fiskolja (Omega3-fettsyra) och jättenattljusolja (Omega6-fettsyra)

Dramatiskt bättre
-Vi såg dramatiska förbättringar. Hos vissa barn redan efter några veckor. Deras uppmärksamhet förbättrades med upp till 400 procent. Många gick från att skriva oläsligt till läsligt och tester visade att de inte längre var hyperaktiva.

Barnen blev också mycket öppnare, fick stärkt självkänsla och lättare att kommunicera, säger Madeleine Portwood som är senior utbildningspsykolog i Durham och genomförde studien. Efter att ha tagit del av studien och träffat de engelska forskarna säger professor Christopher Gillberg:

-Resultaten som jag tagit del av visar att denna behandlingsmetod metod är väl värd att prova. Därför testar vi nu kliniskt eye q på vår klinik-. Den svenska studien har lagts upp ungefär som den engelska och omfatta 50 patienter som står i kö för behandling av ADHD vid BNK. Under de första tre månaderna får hälften placebo, verkningslösa tabletter, och den andra hälften 6 kapslar eye q dagligen. Barnen som testats före studiens start kommer då återigen att testas såväl när det gäller hyperaktivitet och koncentration som läs- och skrivförmåga.

Ofarligt alternativ
Under ytterligare tre månader kommer samtliga att få kostillskottet eye q och därefter att testas en tredje gång. Slutresultatet beräknas vara klart i slutet av nästa år. – Vi har en väntetid på 1,5 år på BNK. Med tanke på den långa väntetiden tycker vi att det är väldigt intressant om det skulle visa sig finnas
ett ofarligt behandlingsalternativ, säger psykiatriker Sven Östlund.

Eye q har en högre halt av Omega3-fettsyran EPA-olja än andra liknande preparat. Hjärnans torrvikt består till 60 procent av fett, bland annat EPA. Senare års forskning har visat att EPA reglerar omsättningen av hjärncellernas fettsyror och att underskott av dessa fettsyror kan påverka hjärnfunktionen negativt.

Till neuropsykiatriska funktionshinder räknas ADHD/DAMP (svårigheter med koncentration/uppmärksamhet, hyperaktivitet och impulsivitet), dyspraxi (svårigheter att genomföra och samordna rörelser) samt dyslexi (läs- och skrivsvårigheter). Uppåt hälften av dyslektikerna visar även tecken på ADHD/DAMP.

Forskydninger i fedtsyreomsætningen kan være nøglen til kronisk træthedssyndrom.
Det viser det første studie, som er udført på hjernens kemiske balance. Studiet indikerer, at oxidationen af frie radikaler kan stoppes med tilskud af den EPA-rige kirunalolie.

Forskningsgennembrud – bedre betingelser for normal udvikling af hjerne og øjne hos foster og børn.
Alle vordende forældre kender frygten for, at barnet ikke bliver normalt. Med prøver og scanninger kan lægerne få øje på diverse fosterfejl og anlæg til sygdomme, og dermed kan de fleste forældre undgå at sætte børn i verden med alvorlige handicap.

Men lidelser som ordblindhed og hyperaktivitet kan ingen se, før barnet er en del af familien. Alligevel er det nu muligt at forebygge problemerne hos sine børn.

Mindst 2-5 % af befolkningen lider af ordblindhed
Ny britisk forskning har vist, at en vigtig årsag til ordblindhed kan være en forstyrrelse i fedtsyre-omsætningen i hjernen. En række videnskabelige studier viser også, at der kan opnås forbedringer af forstyrrelserne ved at tilføre flerumættede fedtsyrer med en blanding af olie fra sardiner og ansjoser, de såkaldte omega-3 fedtsyrer EPA og DHA, og fra planten kæmpenatlysolie, såkaldt omega-6 fedtsyre GLA. Det er vigtigt, at fedtsyrerne bliver tilført i de rette forhold; EPA:DHA 4:1 . Det er nemlig dette, som adskiller eye q fra andre eksisterende fiskeolier.

Hvis moderen får tilstrækkelige mængder af disse fedtsyrer under graviditeten og i ammeperioden, vil det påvirke udviklingen af hjernen og øjnene hos fostret og barnet, og en del af de mange tilfælde af ordblindhed hos børn kan formentlig undgås. Det samme gælder koordinations-problemer ved bevægelser og hyperaktivitet, og måske også autisme og skizofreni. Forskning viser, at fedtsyrer dannes i stærkt øget omfang i fostrets hjerne i 27-ugers alderen.

Hele 30% af hjernen består af livsvigtige fedtsyrer, men kroppen kan kun i meget begrænset omfang danne de vigtige fedtsyrer. Derfor må man have dem tilført gennem maden eller fra kosttilskud.

Britisk forskning har også vist, at ikke alene et tilstrækkeligt indtag af flerumættede fedtsyrer, men også en bestemt blanding af dem, giver bedst effekt for at udvikle og opretholde normal funktion i hjerne og øjne.
