Danish cardiologists treat patients with coenzyme Q10

Doctors at Copenhagen University Hospital have begun using coenzyme Q10 as an important adjunct to the standard heart medications. This is because clinical trials have clearly shown that Q10 strengthens the heart in several areas.

One of Denmark’s leading newspapers B.T. cleared the front page and the middle section of their Sunday edition to bring the news that there is a natural pill that could save hearts. The natural pill turned out to be coenzyme Q10 and the new clinical trial mentioned was led by the respected heart researcher Svend Aage Mortensen who has shown that supplementation of Q10 improves the pumping function of the heart so that patients have less shortness of breath and are less tired.

The research continues. A new investigation has begun to find out what impact it will have in the future for the patients who have been treated with Q10. A lot of research has already been conducted with Q10 at Copenhagen University Hospital concluding that in 10 out of 13 studies involving heart failure patients there was improvements in most af the patients taking Q10 supplementation.

B.T. mentions several other beneficial effects of Q10 supplementation: it has no side effects, it can lower high blood pressure, it can lower blood sugar a bit, it can improve vascular properties in persons with diabetes, it can counteract side effects from cholesterol lowering medication and side effects from chemotherapy.
