De fleste bliver overrasket over, hvor dyrt det er, når hunden har dårlige tænder og tandproblemer.

Dyrlæger og dyrehospitaler rapporterer, at de ser tandsygdomme eller tegn på dårlig tandhygiejne hos op mod 80 pct. af alle de hunde, de undersøger. Det er mange.

Så vi må konkludere, at det er et udpræget problem hos hunde, og at mundhygiejnen er for dårlig.

Tandeftersyn & narkose 

Er du i tvivl om din hunds tilstand, findes der flere dyrlæger, som tilbyder gratis tandeftersyn. Så husk et regelmæssigt tjek. Det vil også være rart, hvis din hund kan slippe for at blive lagt i narkose.

Symptomerne på dårlige tænder

  • Dårlig ånde
  • Tandsten på tænder
  • Gule aflejringer ved gummelinje
  • Blodige gummer – infektion
  • Nedsat appetit og spisevanskeligheder
  • Løse tænder


Tandsten er den største synder 

De første år i hundens liv er “alt godt”, men ligesom hos mennesker udvikler din hund også tandsten og plak fra spyt, mad og bakterier. Hvis du ikke får fjernet din hunds plak og tandsten, vil det med tiden føre til tandkødsbetændelse og kan fremme sygdommen paradentose. Paradentose ses ofte hos ældre hunde og er den hyppigste grund til løse/tab af tænder, da nedbrydningen af vævet omkring tænderne sker hurtigere hos hunde end hos mennesker.

Alger hjælper også

Alger beskytter og opløser også plak og tandsten og giver frisk ånde. Anibio “Tandstensfri” er et naturligt pulver, der består af alger, æble og Ratanhia Radix. Ved indtag af algepulver øges mængden af enzymer, der frigives fra dyrets foder og dermed optagelsen af de forskellige næringsstoffer. Der findes også sunde “dental sticks” i form af tørret kød tilsat alger.

Børst tænder, og brug tyggeben

Hvis du kun giver tørfoder og aldrig “tyggeben” – anbefales det at børste tænder.

Hunde er carnivore, og deres tandsæt er skabt til at spise kød og friske ben. Og helst regelmæssigt. Faktum er også, at hunde fodret med frisk og naturlig mad ofte har sundere mundhygiejne end hunde fodret med tørfoder og kiks.

Med tørfoderets indtog er der blevet tilsat varianter af kornprodukter og sukker i foderet. Det kan være med til at give plak og udvikle sig til infektioner, som spredes til blodet, nyrerne eller leveren. Det kan i værste tilfælde betyde et kortere liv for din hund, og det vil man for alt i verden undgå.

Charlottes egne hunde

“Mine egne hunde lever udelukkende af råt kød & ben (BARF) og grøntsager. Jeg køber det frossent og færdigblandet med vitaminer og olie – så det er nemt. De har sjældent belægninger på tænderne, aldrig dårlig ånde eller fedtet pels, fordi de udelukkende spiser den kost, deres tænder er skabt til at spise. Desuden får de kun naturlige godbidder af tørret kød og grøntsager. 

Daglig pleje tjekliste ✔️

  • Få et halv- eller helårstandeftersyn, så problemer blive opdaget i rette tid.
  • Børst gerne tænderne. Der er flere holistiske produkter på markedet uden flour, som virker. Det kan fx være med nellike og neem – som er kendt for sin helende effekt.
  • Har du en hvalp, så start med at få lov til at massere tandkødet og røre ved tænderne. Med lidt tålmodighed kan du hurtigt gøre tandbørstningen til en god vane.
  • Undgå foder, godbidder og tyggeben med korn, tilsætningsstoffer og sukker.
  • Giv rene godbidder og tyggeben af tørret kød uden tilsætning.
  • Giv lunser af kød (eller BARF), så tænderne “tygger ned” i kødet og bliver renset.
  • Giv friske ben som “tandbørste” hele året.
