Personlig udvikling er generelt set nødvendig for, at vi kan komme videre i vores bevidsthed, både på det individuelle plan og som samfund. Personlig udvikling handler om bevidsthed, at kende sig selv og være ansvarlig for sig selv både i tanke, idé, følelse, ord og handling. Personlig udvikling og bevidsthed vil føre én til nuet og til accept af alt, hvad der sker, uden dom.
Sætningen ”En rose er en rose er en rose” stammer fra digtet ”Sacred Emily” skrevet af den amerikanske digter Gertrude Stein. Sætningen, som er taget ud af et meget langt digt, er blevet brugt og misbrugt af mange kunstnere, forfattere, humorister, filosoffer og af gestaltterapiens fader Fritz Perls.
I gestaltterapiens (Fritz Perls’) fortolkning af digtet henvises til, at tingene er, som tingene er, og det er jo ganske rigtigt, men kun på ét plan. Udfordringen er, at alt har en forgrund og en baggrund, og beskuerens tolkning farver ”virkeligheden”. Altså – når vi går lidt dybere, så er tingene ikke, som de ser ud til at være, men blot oplevelser og betragtninger for den enkelte.
Vi er til hver en tid på højdepunktet af vores bevidsthed
Som mennesker er vi prægede af den kultur, vi kommer fra, den/de religioner, vi er påvirkede af, normer og meget mere. Alt, hvad vi gør, er vores eget ansvar, og vi er nødt til at bære konsekvenserne af det, vi har skabt.
En rose er en rose er en rose, og en kat er en kat er en kat! Men – vi har som mennesker en udviklingsmulighed, som hverken kat eller rose har, derfor er vi ikke bare det, vi er, men meget, meget mere end det.
Rosen og katten forbliver rose og kat, men vi kan tænke over, hvad vi tænker, og vi kan vælge, i modsætning til rosen og katten.
Derfor kan vi ikke ”undskylde” os med, at vi bare er, som vi er. Vi kan arbejde på at blive og være den, vi autentisk er. Det kunne være et ”rigtigt/ægte”, ansvarligt, kærligt og selvbevidst menneske.
Hvordan vælger man at være den man dybest set er?
For det første ved at begynde at interessere sig for spørgsmålet: ”Hvem er jeg”? Og ikke mindst ”hvem ønsker jeg at være”. Dernæst at stille spørgsmål ved de værdier, negative som positive, som vi er vokset op med, og som ofte sidder dybt i os.
Gøre op med ”negative sandheder” om os selv og finde den rigtige sandhed og vælge vores højeste livsværdier, som fx kærlighed, ansvar og at være ikke-dømmende.
Så ja: ”En rose er en rose er en rose” og ”en kat er en kat er en kat” og det forbliver de at være.
Men et menneske har bevidsthedens gave (og forbandelse), og derfor er vi ikke bare, som vi er.
