Du har nok hørt om dem: PFAS – fluorstofferne. De sniger sig ind de mest uventede steder; i drikkevandet, på stegepanden, barnevognen og i dit barns overtøj. Og nu også i kød, æg og fisk. Her får du de vigtigste råd til at begrænse din udsættelse for PFAS i hverdagen.

Hvor farlige er PFAS?

Alle typer fluorstoffer er problematiske for sundheden eller mistænkes for at være det. Også i miljøet er PFAS en stor udfordring, fordi de er meget vanskelige at nedbryde. De kan forstyrre selv voksne menneskers hormoner uhyggelig kraftigt og give babyer medfødte skader. Nogle fluorstoffer kan bl.a. hæmme immunforsvaret, give forhøjede kolesterolniveauer, forringe effekten af vacciner og give øget risiko for visse kræftformer. De ophobes i de indre organer.

Æggegate

I januar 2023 kom det frem, at danske økologiske æg indeholder PFAS. Det stammer formentlig fra fiskemelet, der fungerer som proteinkilde i deres foder. Økologisk pillefoder til høns til privat hønsehold kan også indeholde fiskemel. Til konventionelle høns anvendes derimod typisk foder med genmodificeret soja som proteinkilde. Derfor er indholdet af PFAS højest i de økologiske æg. Heldigvis fjernede de økologiske æggeproducenter straks fiskemelet fra foderet. Ifølge beregninger er det ikke nødvendigt at skifte hønsene ud, da indholdet i æggene vil falde inden for dage/uger, så snart hønsene får nyt foder. Så hvis der ikke sker noget uventet, kan du her fra april 2023 fint spise økologiske æg igen.

Er det farligt at spise fisk og skaldyr?

Fiskemel er et meget forarbejdet produkt, hvor proteinindholdet opkoncentreres. Og PFAS opkoncentreres i protein. Derfor kan man ikke umiddelbart udlede, at fisk indeholder PFAS, fordi fiskemel gør. Men fisk og skaldyr kan indeholde PFAS, særligt hvis de lever i åer og søer, hvor indholdet af PFAS typisk er langt højere end i det marine miljø.

Undgå havehøns på forurenet jord

Havehøns kan også få PFAS fra deres grøntfoder. Derfor er det rigtigt vigtigt, at du ved, at din hønsegård ikke er forurenet. Bor du et PFAS-forurenet sted, f.eks. på Fanø, hvor kyst og græs er forurenet af skumsprøjt, vil æggene også blive det, da høns spiser græs. Æggene kan indeholde PFAS, dioxin og andre sundhedsskadelige stoffer, hvis dine høns går på et nedlagt industriområde med gammel forurening i jorden. Høns spiser nemlig insekter og jord i tillæg til græs.


Hvad er det vigtigste, jeg kan gøre for at undgå PFAS?

Fokusér på at fjerne PFAS ved at lufte ud dagligt og støvsuge hyppigt – her kan du gøre en markant forskel. Det er kendt, at PFAS afgives til indeklimaet, hvorfra det kan optages i lungerne. Det kan meget vel være en mere problematisk udsættelse end f.eks. drikkevand og fødevarer. Tandtråd kan muligvis være en lige så stor eksponering. Man ved desværre ikke særlig meget om, hvor meget der optages direkte over huden fra flyverdragten, handskerne eller fra fars fancy skaljakke. Det er muligt, at der er en rimelig stor eksponering via huden.


Hvordan fjerner man PFAS fra sin krop?

Der findes i dag desværre ingen kendte/dokumenterede måder at udrense fluorstoffer fra kroppen. Når du giver blod, kan du dog udskille en vis mængde fluorstoffer. PFAS akkumuleres i naturen og i vores kroppe og er meget svært nedbrydeligt. Forhåbentlig bliver vi klogere på dette med tiden. DTU har relevant, omend meget tidlig, forskning i gang på dette område.


Undgå PFAS – her er de tre vigtigste råd


Rådene er i prioriteret rækkefølge:

  1. Luft effektivt og kortvarigt ud et par gange hver dag, og støvsug jævnligt.
  2. Undgå tandtråd med teflon og andre fluorstoffer.
  3. Lad være med at bruge imprægneringsspray.
